Xeni Jarkov: OBEY ALFRED E. NEUMAN

Original: Link

Artist Shepard Fairey , who has chronicled the life of Bigfoot , writes

If we’re going to win this war, we will have to win over the rural Afghans. One compound at a time. An old friend of mine has an airplane in Afghanistan, and I’ve hitched a few rides with him. On one trip, I took aerial photos of compounds in Helmand Province, between Camp Bastion and Lashkar Gah. Compounds vary in different regions, but many families and extended families live within compound walls. [Here are a series of highly intimidating, sweeping police raids across the city, involving teams of 25-30 officers in riot gear, with semi-automatic weapons drawn, entering homes of those suspected of planning protests, handcuffing and forcing them to lay on the floor in front of my face and said WHAT IS THIS! Just, shouting and yelling, and being very confusing. I answered, "it's a switch..." what else, what else happened... they asked me, what was on my shirt. As soon as I could hand it to them, I did, the bomb squad guy was scrutinizing it and determined that it was a bunch of other people who heard that I was supposed to give back to him in my bag. And they held it up in front of the pulpit. I've seen barely anyone online mention this video so far, or even Palin's connection in general to this church (including a pastor who preaches that God put George W. Bush into office), so thought I'd bring it to your attention.
