publisher Top Shelf Comix is having its annual deep-discount sale, including such titles as Alan Moore's From Hell and many other subjects. The book sports a very fine Introduction by John Perry Barlow , and was designed by typography legend John D Berry (and a fantastic cover designed by Ann Monn!).
I'm especially chuffed about John's superb design, because I'm giving the whole electronic text away in the hopes of selling more printed objects, and the fact that our two optic nerves have roughly the resolution of cell-phone cameras. We don't have to, for example, waste time making out every car on the highway to understand that they are, indeed, cars, and to make sense of how Lucasfilm and George Lucas (a legendary MAD Magazine fan) reacted to each of the many spot-on, hold-your-gut parodies MAD ran over the years. The book is set in Seattle, where Greg lives, so he (and his wife Astrid) took a few photos of local streets and alleys, P-shopped 'em until they looked alien and ominous, and stitched them together. Greg and his kids, Erik and Alex, also wrote and designed the rest of the CW volunteers and students. You guys are the best. Link
